
Amrit Kaur
Amrit Kaur is a singer-songwriter and sarangi player, whose music has been described by OZY magazine as the place ‘where Punjabi folk meets Aretha Soul’. Born and bred in north London, Amrit's music education began in the gurdwara, playing traditional Sikh and Indian classical music. She has performed widely across genres, commanding the stages of Glastonbury Festival, All Points East, Jaipur Literature Festival and the UN General Assembly with the Marley family. Her live vocal ability has been praised by legendary producer Rick Rubin and she has been spotlighted by BBC Music Amrit has a Masters in History from SOAS, University of London, and draws inspiration from the stories of the women of Punjab, past and present.
